FILESTAGE ALTERNATIVE — CLIENT REVIEW & APPROVAL

A Filestage alternative that meters storage, not people.

Filestage is a capable proofing tool and this page is not going to pretend otherwise. The two products differ in one structural way: what the invoice is a function of, and what the review surface is built around.

VoiceDeck is video-first, takes video, audio, images, and PDF through one share link, and bills on storage. Team members and client reviewers are unlimited on every tier, including Free.

01 / What Filestage does well

It is a serious proofing tool with a wide format net.

Filestage's own site describes uploading "videos, images, designs, documents, websites, interactive HTML, and audio files, all in one platform" — a wider net than ours, and the live-website and interactive-HTML side is something we simply do not do.

It also gets the reviewer question right. Filestage lists unlimited reviewers on every published tier and states that reviewers do not need an account to give feedback or approve files. That is the same instinct we have, and it is worth saying plainly rather than implying otherwise.

FORMATS Includes live websites and interactive HTML — outside what VoiceDeck reviews.
REVIEWERS Unlimited on every published tier, no account required to comment or approve.
FREE TIER 10 team members, capped at 1 active project and 5 new files per month.

02 / Where the models differ

One bill counts people. The other counts gigabytes.

Filestage's published paid tiers start at $199 per month and include 10 team members, with more added in bundles of 5. That suits a department that already has ten people in the tool and knows it.

VoiceDeck has no member dimension at all. Storage is the only meter, so a three-person studio pays a three-person-sized bill without a ten-member floor, and a fifteen-person one pays the same as the three-person one on the same storage.

03 / The VoiceDeck flow

Share a link, review in the browser, approve on the record.

Upload the files, share the project or just the folder you want seen, and send one link. The client opens it in a browser with no signup and nothing to install; they are asked for a name only at the moment they first write something, and email is optional.

Notes land pinned to the exact timecode, region, or PDF page. When the next cut is ready, upload it as a new version — earlier rounds stay on the record and approvals never travel forward, so each person approves each version on its own. It is the same surface for video, audio, images, and PDF.

SHARE One link per client — whole project, one folder, or a chosen set of files.
REVIEW In the browser, no account. Pen, arrow, and box drawings tied to the note.
APPROVE One click, recorded per person, per version, with a timestamp.
CONTROL Passphrase, expiry, downloads on or off, revoke any time.
04 / When Filestage is the right choice

There are cases where you should stay.

We would rather you work that out on this page than three weeks in. If any of these describe you, Filestage is the better tool and switching would be a downgrade.

STAY IF You review live websites or interactive HTML. VoiceDeck reviews files, not pages.
STAY IF Your work is mostly print and packaging artwork rather than moving pictures.
STAY IF Filestage is already wired into approval steps your compliance process depends on.
STAY IF One active project and a handful of files a month genuinely covers you — their free tier is free.
05 / Switching

Upload the originals, send the link, done.

There is no importer, and we are not going to invent one. Switching means uploading the files you are actively reviewing and sending each client one new link. Your clients never had accounts on either tool, so there is nothing to migrate on their side.

Old rounds stay where they are — keep the other tool open until the work in it closes out. Your originals here stay downloadable at any time, so trying VoiceDeck never locks you in.

Bring everyone. Pay for storage.

Free tier. No card. Your first review link in about two minutes.
